What we source
From one specialty item to a full theatre list.
Hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and NGOs send us the items they cannot find in Kenya. Specialty catheters and tubes, surgical instruments, dressings, diagnostic kits, small equipment and the spare parts that keep it running. We buy from the same manufacturers in Europe and Asia that supply our own shelves, so you get the same quality checks we apply to our Sternmed products.
Some items need a permit from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board or a licence that we do not hold. We tell you that before you commit and, where we can, we point you to someone who can help. We never promise an item we cannot deliver.
Sternmed Afrika Ltd is a Kenyan company in Nairobi and part of Aura Trade and Capital GmbH of Austria. That link gives us buying power in Europe and a team that knows how to clear goods into Kenya without surprises.
Questions buyers ask
What can you import for me?
Most hospital and clinic consumables, instruments and small equipment that are not on our shelves. Describe the item and we check with our suppliers in Europe and Asia. If it needs a special permit in Kenya we tell you before you commit.
How do I describe what I need?
Give us the name of the item, the brand or the specs that matter (size, gauge, material, pack size), the quantity and your town. A photo of the packaging or a link to the product helps a lot.
How long does an answer take?
We reply within 2 working days with a yes or a no. If it is a yes, you get a landed price: the product, shipping, clearing and duty in one figure, delivered to your door.
What does it cost?
Every item is different, so we quote each request. You see the full landed price before you pay anything. There is no fee for asking.
How long does delivery take?
Air freight usually lands in 7 to 14 days after you confirm. Sea freight for bulky or heavy orders usually takes 4 to 8 weeks. We give you the timeline with the quote.
How do I pay for an import?
You confirm the quote with a deposit by M Pesa or bank transfer and pay the balance on delivery. Hospitals and counties can order against an LPO.
Can you import for buyers outside Kenya?
Yes. We import for buyers across East Africa and ship to the rest of Africa on request. Tell us the destination and we quote the full route.
